Margie Halvorsen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 28, 2025.
Marge was born on June 30, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN to Bernard and Esther Benson. She grew up in NE Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High School in 1950. Marge attended the University of Minnesota where she met her husband Leroy, and they were married in 1957. An accountant by training, Marge worked at Twin City Co-ops Credit Union before taking time to raise her children. Marge was an active and faithful member of University Lutheran Church of Hope for almost 70 years. Volunteering was such a big part of Marge's life, including the Roseville School District, Roseville Area Senior Program, church, and many others. Marge was an avid reader, loved to attend music and dance events, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and playing 500 with the Falconeers Card Club. Family was always important which meant that Marge and Roy attended as many family celebrations and events as possible. Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Roy. She is survived by her children, Lucia (Jim) and Mark (Vicky), and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at University Lutheran Church of Hope, 601 13th Ave. SE in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service with lunch afterwards.
