Margie McGehee (nee Strickland) died in her granddaughter's home in Titusville, FL where she was loved and cared for since September 2021. Margie was 98 years old when she passed. Prior to relocating to Florida, Margie was a long time resident of McComb, MS where she was born and returned to for the last years of her long marriage to Emmett McGehee, who preceded her in death, and for many years after as she cared for her sister-in-law, Ida Faye "Hannah" Railsback.
Margie, born January 21,1926, was the oldest child of Nora (nee Westbrook) and Wren B. Strickland. She was a mother and homemaker for many years until at the age of 50 years old, she earned her RN degree from Pearl River Community College. She worked at Saint Tammany Parrish Hospital in Covington, LA as a recovery room nurse for fifteen years until her retirement. She was an excellent cook and loved to shop. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Summit, MS and watched services live on Facebook even after she relocated to Florida.
She had five brothers, four of whom preceded her in death: Wren Strickland, Kenneth Strickland, R. E. Strickland and Max Strickland; and she is survived by her youngest brother Eugene Strickland, who resides in Crestview, Florida with his wife Marcia. She was also sadly preceded in death by her two children, Jeanne Wilkinson and Madison McGehee. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grand children and great-great grandchildren. Granddaughter Lisa Hannusch and her wife, Lisa Richardson, reside in Austin, TX and their daughter, Shelby Richardson, Denton, TX. Granddaughter Stacey Day (nee Wilkinson) resides in McComb, MS and her children and grandchildren: Taylor Byrd, wife Lindsey, and children Liam and Landon of Brookhaven, MS; Holly Byrd Harrell and children Hanson and Miles of West Point, MS; Jeri Allison Byrd Arnett and children Wolfgang, Rowan, and Willow of Salem, OR; and Hannah Day of McComb, MS. Valerie Easley (nee Wilkinson) and husband, Mike Easley reside in Titusville, FL and children and grandchild: Melissa Easley and daughter Elizabeth Parks of Denver, CO; and Paige Easley of West Palm Beach, FL. Grandson William (McGehee) Berry resides in Quitmman, MS.
Memorial services will be held April 6, 2024 at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb, MS. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a chapel service at 11:00 a.m., with interment at the Hollywood Cemetery immediately after. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Margie's amazing life.

I will never forget that she was actually the one who gave we a cook book when I first got married. I still have it and a love for cooking.
Love, Roxanne Strickland Haygood

Margie was my mother's, Ida Margaret Richardson Wilson, best friend growing up in McComb. My 1st memory of Margie was when I came home from Jr. High School with a new boyfriend... Kenny Strickland. Mama, of course, was grilling him with questions! It did not take her long to find out that Kenny was Margie's nephew! Small world!
The last time I saw Margie was in McComb where she was taking care of my 2nd cousin, Faye Railsback. She cooked us a wonderful lunch and even made us a cake! My aunt, Joyce Richardson Young, was with me and we all enjoyed the visit.
She will be missed by all who knew her!
