Margo Kathleen Craig, 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:32 am March 21, 2025 at Stonebridge Nursing and Rehab in Benton, Illinois surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 17, 1938 in Decatur, Illinois to the late Russell Earl and Catherine J. (Abel) Kessler. Margo married Forrest "Frosty" Craig on July 21, 1960. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2001.
Margo is survived by her children, Jane Ann Rinsma and husband, Ed of Mount Vernon, Jill Annette Hawkins of Mount Vernon, and Diana Kaye Dillard of Benton, Illinois; grandchildren, Logan Rinsma, Derek Rinsma, Stephen McElroy and wife, Hannah, Nicholas McElroy and wife, Dacy, Craig Dillard and wife, Marci, and Christina Neff and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Damon, Genesis, Felicity, Izaiah, Adalynn, Shailey, Carson, Isaac, Emma, Khloe, Taegan, Sylvie, Rooney, Barret, Aurora, Wilder, Kaylynn, Everly, and Chyanne; and cousin, Linda Binger of Taylorville, Illinois.
In addition to her parents and husband, Margo was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Christian Dillard; son-in-law, Zack Hawkins; and brother, James Kessler.
Margo graduated in 1956 from Stephen Decatur High School and American Savings and Loan Institute in Chicago, Illinois. She was the secretary and treasurer for Frosco from 1982 until 2001. Alongside her husband, Frosty, Margo owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Fairfield, West Frankfort, and Mount Vernon. She later worked as tour guide for Vandalia Bus Lines and was the front desk manager at the Hampton Inn before retirement. Margo was a Girl Scout and a Brownie leader for several years.
Margo was a very loving and giving person. She spread her love to everyone she was near. Margo will be dearly missed by all who knew and adored her.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Mr. Ryan Mulvaney officiating. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at U.S. Bank in Margo Craig's name.
