Carthage, NY - Margy M. Smith, 86, of Carthage, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Pennsylvania, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Carthage, NY on June 4, 1939, Margy was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Schermerhorn) Mono. She attended school in Carthage.
She married Ronald L. Smith on June 28, 1980, in Carthage. Margy was primarily a devoted homemaker raising her children, and she later retired in 2018 from Fort Drum, where she worked as a sanitation specialist. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Margy is survived by her husband, Ronald L. Smith, of Carthage; her children: Sheree Everard, of Evans Mills; Larry (Lori) Everard, of Deer River; Douglas Everard, of South Carolina; Todd Everard, of Brownville; Kimberly Everard, of Watertown; Robert Smith, of Carthage; and Naomi (Jeff) Almy, of Deferiet. She is also survived by her sisters, Florence Nikles, of Carthage, and Doreen Ayers, of Harrisville, along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her parents, her children, Tina Howland, and Thomas Everard.
Per her wishes, there will be no services.
