Maria Magdalena Ortiz Alborran, 56, passed away on September 20, 2025, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born in Reading, Maria was a daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and in her final years, a companion and friend. She loved to dance and sing and had a generous and loving heart.
Maria was the mother of three children: Robert Alborran Jr., Jonathan Alborran, and Xylina Alborran. She is also survived by her siblings-Wanda Seda, Elizabeth Ortiz, Mirna Ortiz, Josefina Ortiz, and her brother Cecilio Ortiz and his wife, Sue; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her two aunts, Jovita Alicea (husband Ceasar Alicea) and Zoraida Martinez, also mourn her passing. She is preceded in death by her parents, Irma Ortiz and Rene Velez, and her brother, Edwin Velez Ortiz.
Maria's life was marked by both love and loss. A dedicated homemaker in her early years, she raised her children with devotion and care. However, for the past 26 years, Maria had been absent from her family's life. Her passing ultimately brought to light the circumstances of her disappearance, allowing her loved ones to finally find closure after decades of uncertainty.
In her final years, Maria found companionship and stability with Danny Ybarra, with whom she shared the last nine years of her life in Milwaukee.
While the years apart left many questions, those who knew Maria remember her for her warmth, her laughter, and the love she carried in quieter ways. Her absence left a space in the hearts of many, but her rediscovery-though sorrowful-also reunites her memory with the family she left behind.
Services will be held on Friday, October 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, 19611. The family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
