Daniels Family Funeral Services - Sara Road ChapelMaria Fernanda Bercian, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2026, at 6:49 p.m., surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 1955, in El Salvador. Maria was raised in Cantón El Ángel, San Pedro Masahuat, Department of La Paz, where she developed the deep faith, strength, and compassion that guided her throughout her life.
She completed her high school education at Grace Christian School and later attended The Salvation Army School for Officer Training, reflecting her lifelong devotion to serving others and her faith.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jose Efraín Torres and Pastora Gómez; her husband, Gregorio Bercian; and her daughter, Reina Bercian (2015).
She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Flor Torres, Carla Ortiz, Esperanza Barbosa, and Brenda Solis; her sister, Bianca Torres; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.
Maria was a kind and loving woman who always had a smile and welcomed everyone with warmth. She was very friendly, a true social butterfly, and someone who would lend a hand to anyone in need without hesitation. She was strong in her faith and even stronger in spirit.
She fought a courageous battle with stage 4 liver cancer, enduring multiple treatments, chemotherapy, and three head surgeries to remove tumors. Through it all, she remained resilient and full of love—truly one of the strongest people her family has ever known.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Maria selflessly stepped in to help raise her grandchildren after the passing of her daughter, doing so with unconditional love and without question.
She found joy in spending time with her family, gardening, and sharing stories that brought laughter to those around her. She will also be remembered for her delicious homemade pupusas, a cherished tradition from her homeland that brought her family together.
Maria’s strength, love, and unwavering faith leave a legacy that will live on through all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
