Maria Bures, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 17, 2025, in Justice, Illinois. Born on May 2, 1953, in Grywald, Poland, Maria was the loving daughter of the late Jozef Garb and the late Maria Garb (Knutelska). Her life was a testament to the strength and love of family, a value she held dear from her Polish roots to her final days.
In 1971, she graduated from Kelly High School, a milestone that marked the beginning of a long and successful career. For over 37 years, Maria worked for Fireman's Fund alongside her twin sister, Aniela.
Known for her warmth, generosity, strength, love and persistence for her children, Maria was the beloved mother to Cynthia (Anthony) Noto, Sandra A. Bures, and Joseph A. Bures and dear grandmother to Haylie T. Strader. She was a loving sister to her surviving sibling, Anna (James) Hutchinson, and a tender memory to her late sisters, Aniela (Jimmie) Kwit, and Irene (Timothy) O'Brien. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and family in the U.S. and in Poland.
Maria relished in spending time with her family, whether it was watching movies together or enjoying music. These moments were the highlights of her days and the creation of lasting memories.
Her love knew no bounds, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
