Maria L. (Hodge) Daugherty

Formerly of Elmira, age 39, passed away very unexpectedly on May 4, 2022. Born on Feb. 26, 1983, the daughter of Raymond Hodge & Robin Carden-Smith. Maria was a graduate of E.F.A. and went on to attend Corning Community College. Maria had a thirst for life and was exceptionally driven to be the very best that she could be at anything she set her mind to. Maria was never a stranger to anyone that she met. She always greeted everyone with a warm, friendly smile. Maria enjoyed doing arts and crafts that she learned from her beloved grandmother, Bertha Orme, whom predeceased her on May 15, 2019. Maria is survived by her loving family, her husband, Bryan, along with her three beautiful daughters, Amirah & Arianna Daugherty and MacKenzie Smith; her parents, Raymond (Ellen) Hodge, Robin Cardin-Smith and step-parent, Karyn Hodge; her siblings, Kayla Hodge (David DeWalt), Andrew Hodge, Lauren Hodge (Steven Carey); grandparents, Joanne Rich, and Nelson Orme; aunts, Heather Orme, Rebecca Orme, Pam & Les Herrera and Barb Dando (Jack Raymond); step-siblings, Matt & Kim Balmer, Dan & Mallory Eberly; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira, NY 14904 on Wed. May 25, 2022 between the hours of 4:00p.m.-6:00p.m. Memorial services will follow at 6:15p.m. and will be streamed on Caywood's FaceBook page. The family would like to extend an invitation following the services at the funeral home, to continue celebrating Maria's life from 7p.m. – 9p.m. at the Elmira Elks Lodge, 300 E. Gray St. Elmira, NY 14901.
