It is with deep love that we gather here to celebrate the life of our beloved mother, Maria del Carmen Fragoso Diaz, who entered peacefully into her eternal rest on Saturday, March 21at 9:18 pm at the age of 87.
Mom was born on July 6, 1938, in a humble town near Sagua La Grande. With courage and determination, she followed her husband (Guzman Diaz) and migrated to the United States on July 19th, 1971, in pursuit of a better life for her family. She chose to put her children first and during their early school years she worked from home to make sure they were cared for by her and not a stranger. Through hard work, resilience, and unwavering faith, she built a legacy that will never be forgotten.
A talented seamstress she lived the American dream of entrepreneur, when she established two successful bridal businesses, helping countless brides feel beautiful and confident on their special day. Her work was more than a profession—it reflected her creativity, dedication, and love for people and for her craft.
Above all, she came to faith in Jesus Christ towards the end of 1980 and soon became a committed follower of the Lord Jesus, as she loved Him with all her heart. She faithfully served in her last church as a greeter, always willing to lend a helping hand, offer encouragement, and share God’s love with others. Her life was a testament to grace, humility, and service.
She was a devoted mother, a guiding light, and a source of strength and comfort to her family. She is survived by her children, Odalys Diaz Penton, Carmen Nora Diaz Pearce, Evelys Diaz & Guzman Diaz Jr., She leaves behind her beloved sisters, Elena Fragoso, Grisel Fragoso and 12 grandchildren (Jeluv, Michael, Chris, Lauren, Dakota, Essie, Emmy, Caden, Elora, Alana, Gavin and Mia). Along with her two great grandsons, Rafael & Gabriel. She was preceded by eleven years in death of her husband Guzman Diaz, whom they are reunited now in the presence of the Lord along with her father & mother and other family members.
Her legacy of faith, perseverance, and love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing she is at peace in the presence of the Lord and no longer suffering pain.
