Obituary published on Legacy.com by Elgin Funeral Home on Oct. 1, 2025.
Maria Delia Garcia was born on April 12, 1944 and left this world on September 16, 2025. She was 81 years old. She was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico to Santana Benitez Angulo and Francisco Lora. She was their second child as she had an older brother, Hector Lora.
She was raised in Culiacan, Sinaloa where she attended college and was a court reporter stenographer. She came to the United States and settled in Los Angeles, California where she met Pablo H. Garcia. Three months to the date after they met, they were married on February 10, 1968. They had three children. The family lived in California, Texas, and finally in Lawton, Oklahoma, where Pablo was stationed at Fort Sill.
Delia was a seamstress and tailoress for Western Uniform and Cintas and retired in 2004. They raised their three children in Lawton where she was residing until her death. She enjoyed being a grandmother and traveling with her husband to Texas to visit family and friends while taking lots of pictures.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and make their way in life and become strong and independent. She was kind and generous and wanted to help everyone she met. She was thoughtful and wanted you to always know and feel how much you meant to her. She loved being with her family and friends having a good time, eating great food, and making more wonderful memories all while snapping away on her phone camera. She loved reliving memories while looking through all her pictures.
Delia is preceded in death by her mother Santana Angulo, her brother Hector Lora, her husband Pablo H. Garcia, and her son Pablo Garcia, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Velma Lora Myrick and her husband Ty Myrick of Buda, Texas; her son, David Garcia and his wife Jennifer Garcia of New Orleans, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Jacob Andrew Lange of Austin, Texas, Anna-Marie Lange of Chicago, Illinois, and Kelly Garcia of Walters, Oklahoma; Maya Savage of New Orleans, Louisiana and Aidan Mitchell of New Orleans, Louisiana.
