Maria Nimia Garcia, age 91, of Lemoore, California, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Nimia was born on October 7, 1933, on the island of Terceira, in the Azores, Portugal. In 1967, she immigrated to the United States with her family, eventually settling in Lemoore. She was a dedicated employee of the Central Union School District from 1976 until 2009, where she was known not only for her dedication but also for sharing her love of cooking.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe Machado Garcia, and her brothers, Diogo Ramos Ferreira Belerique and David Ramos Ferreira Belerique. She is survived by her brothers, Isaque and Jorge Ramos Ferreira Belerique.
Nimia was a devoted mother to her three sons: Manuel Henry Garcia, Carl Anthony Garcia, and Joseph Edward Garcia. She was a treasured Avó to her seven grandchildren: Amanda, Michael, Kaydee, Mariah, Allison, Joey, and Tommy; and seven great-grandchildren: Anden, Gavin, Brantley, Dylan, Jaxson, Scarlet, and Annalise. Her love for her family was unconditional.
She lived a life deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, compassion, and generosity. Nimia welcomed everyone with open arms and treated them like family. Her quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and nurturing heart left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was a loyal friend, a proud member of the I.D.E.S. Association, a devout member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, and the catholic community.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lemoore. Burial will follow at Lemoore Cemetery, 1441 N. Lemoore Ave. A reception will be held afterward at the Lemoore Senior Citizens Center, 789 S. Lemoore Ave.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has offered prayers, love, and support during this time. Your kindness has brought comfort and peace as we celebrate Nimia's beautiful life and enduring legacy.
