Maria Elena Gomez Nieto, 83 of Canadian, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in Canadian surrounded by her loving family.
Services are pending in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico. Local arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral directors of Canadian.
Maria Elena Gomez Nieto was born August 28, 1941, in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico to Felipe Gomez Garcia and Delores Nieto. Maria was a very social woman. She loved to travel. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria especially loved her visits to Canadian, where she eventually made her home three years ago.
Maria will be remembered for her warm smile, her generosity, and the way she always put her family first. She enjoyed sharing stories of her life, cooking traditional meals, and celebrating special occasions with those she loved. To her family, she was the heart of every gathering, a source of comfort, and a reminder of unconditional love.
Those left to cherish Maria’s memory are her children, four daughters, Tony Huerta, Maria Terrazas, Rosa Carrasco, Olga Paz; two sons, Gustavo Carrasco and Roberto Huerta; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Felipe and Dolores.
Maria’s legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she is gone from our sight, her spirit will remain with us forever.
