Maria Teresa Light, was born on November 16, 1947 on the Santa Anita Ranch in San Manuel, Texas to Margarita and Policarpo Gutierrez. Terri grew up on the ranch and spent most of her years in Texas. After graduating high school, she married and moved to Washington and later to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and finally returned to Texas in 1973 with her beloved children, Scott and Jean.
Terri was a strong and amazing mother who always put her children first. You could often find her in the kitchen making the best fried chicken, dancing around the house, and working in her garden. She dedicated her life to her family and was a friendly soul that never met a stranger.
She was a hard worker, having spent 16 years at Procter & Gamble before retiring in 1992. She married Tommy the same year and they set out to Valley Mills where they renovated an old farmhouse and turned it into their dream home. Terri loved hosting her family for holidays, making beautiful quilts, cooking delicious meals, and spending time outdoors with her farm animals and dogs. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed all of the beauty the seasons brought.
After her husband passed, Terri spent a few years at the farm and finally decided that it was time to be closer to her daughter and moved to Forney. While the time we had wasn't nearly enough, we will always cherish the love, memories, happiness, and laughter that she brought us and will continue to bring.
Terri is survived by her son, Jeffery "Scott" Vasquez and wife Nicole; daughter, Bobbie "Jean" Jones and husband Robert; grandchildren, Jordan Vasquez and wife Stacy, Ariana O'Neil and husband Morgan "Gordan", Annsley Vasquez, Emily Rose Vasquez, Tyler Jones, Jensen Jones, and Riley Jones; great-grandchildren, Molly Vasquez, Mickey Vasquez, Rafael "Rafa" O'Neil; sister, Maria Elia Trevino; bonus grandchildren, Andriana, David, and Noah Stotz, Rebekah Clinger and husband Logan; great-granddaughter, Susan Nicole Clinger.
