Maria G. Massimi June 17, 1945 – August 12, 2025 Maria G. Massimi of Larchmont, NY, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2025, just eight days after the passing of her husband, Frank A. Massimi. She was 80 years old. Her passing followed a sudden and severe medical event, and she was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments. She was born in
New Rochelle, NY, on June 17, 1945, the daughter of Joseph and Concetta DiPietro. A woman of faith, wisdom, and warmth, Maria devoted herself to her family and embraced every chapter of motherhood and grandparenthood with depth and meaning. She is survived by her sons, Robert Massimi and Stephen Massimi, MD; her daughters-in-law, Nora and Nicole; and her four young grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She never let a moment pass without reminding them how much they were loved. To her grandchildren, she was more than a grandmother - she was a teacher, a storyteller, a comforter, and their greatest supporter. Maria is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary-Lynne DiPietro; her brother- and sister-in- law, Aldo and Maria L. Massimi, her dearly loved nephews; and many cherished cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Concetta DiPietro, and her brother, Joseph A. DiPietro, MD. She was the heart of her home - nurturing, wise, and ever-present. Every meal she prepared was a celebration, every holiday a treasured tradition, and every family moment a blessing. She had a gift for making those around her feel seen, supported, and cared for. Teaching was one of Maria's lifelong passions. She earned multiple master's degrees and spent many years sharing her love of language - first French and Italian, and later Spanish - with students at Westlake High School. Her love of education was matched by a deep intellectual curiosity, and she extended that spirit into her home and community, always offering sage advice and a listening ear to those who needed her. Maria also cherished the time she spent traveling with her husband Frank, with whom she shared a love of culture, food, and meaningful experiences. Together they built a life rich in family and faith, and they especially enjoyed their time in Jupiter, Florida, where they found peace and joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a former president of the Larchmont Historical Society and an active member of the Larchmont Garden Club, where she found great fulfillment in both the beauty of nature and the friendships she cultivated. Her Catholic beliefs were central to her life, and she passed them on to her family through quiet example, thoughtful conversation, and shared prayer. She was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine Church in Larchmont for more than four decades. Maria's legacy is one of grace, love, and generosity - a life that touched everyone around her. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with Frank, her partner in all things.
