Maria Melendez Obituary
Maria C. Melendez, born on August 6, 1942, in Guayama, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, in Clifton Springs, NY. She was a resident of Rochester, NY for over 50 years.
Maria was the beloved daughter of Pedro Melendez De Jesus and Concepcion Cruz Guzman, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her sister Elena Melendez and brother Isidro "Songo" Guzman. Her memory is lovingly carried forward by her siblings Ramon Melendez and Francisco "Paquito" Guzman (spouse Pinky Guzman), as well as her sister-in-law Carmen Guzman.
She leaves behind a legacy through her children: Manuel (Linda) Melendez Jr., Aileen Claudio, and Pedro Melendez. Maria was predeceased by her sons Wilfredo Melendez and Felix Claudio Jr. She was a proud grandmother to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she will be fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing to honor Maria’s life will take place at New Comer Funeral Home, located at 6 Empire Blvd. on Monday, January 27. Viewing hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A brief service will be held at 1pm.
Maria’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
