Maria Munoz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home & Crematory - Historical Downtown Chapel on Jan. 6, 2026.
With profound sadness, we announce the spiritual transition of María Teresa Muñoz, our most beloved and loving sister. María Teresa departed this earthly world at the St. Patrick residential/rehabilitation facility in Naperville, Illinois, on December 30, 2025, at 7:30 p.m.
María Teresa was born on June 15, 1938, in Vista Hermosa, Michoacán, Mexico. Tere, or Teresita as she was affectionately called, emigrated at the early age of 25 as a permanent resident to the United States of America. She lived for a time in Chicago, Illinois, and later for a short period in Hayward, California. Throughout the years, Tere frequently traveled back to her hometown. Upon meeting the requirements for U.S. citizenship, she obtained dual nationality of Mexico and the United States of America.
Tere returned for a time to her hometown to live with her parents and helped them greatly in their business of manufacturing "Muñoz Natural Fruit Ice Creams." Her parents' business, founded in 1946, was a popular and well-known establishment in the town, famously known as "Nevería Muñoz." For many years, Tere was a key figure and expert in the production of the Muñoz family's natural fruit ice creams, including delicious cream and water-based frozen treats, as well as flavorful popsicles and Eskimos. After the passing of her parents, Tere took full responsibility for the family business for many years.
During her time in Vista Hermosa, Tere was deeply loved by all who came to know her. To this day, many families consider her an angel, as she was always unconditionally helpful to families and people in need. Tere belonged to the Sisters of Renewal in the Holy Spirit group of the Catholic Church in Vista Hermosa, Michoacán, where she also assumed leadership roles.
In addition to running the Nevería Muñoz, in her free time Tere dedicated herself to helping people with nutritional deficiencies. She offered them "Shaklee" products containing natural minerals and vitamins-essential nutrients the body needs to function. Many people benefited positively from these products that Tere provided and remained forever grateful to her.
After the closure of Nevería Muñoz in Vista Hermosa, Michoacán, in 2002, Tere came to Naperville, Illinois. Together with her brother Jorge and her sister-in-law Isabel (may she rest in peace), she carried out an excellent transfer of knowledge related to the production of the Muñoz family's natural ice creams, after which the new ice cream shop was inaugurated in Illinois.
Tere was always a loving and devoted sister, aunt, and cherished family member. She treasured the time she spent with her sisters and brothers and enjoyed every moment with them. She especially loved her role as "Aunt Tere," kind and patient to her many nieces and nephews. Tere made many friendships and always spread love. She was dearly loved in the community of her hometown and also in Naperville, Illinois, by all who knew her.
