Maria Pagan

September 12, 1954 – August 8, 2025

Maria Pagan, 70, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Born on September 12, 1954, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Maria came to the United States at the age of 18. She learned English, joined Job Corps, and began a lifetime of hard work and determination.

Her career reflected her drive and resilience: she worked as a nurse aide in 1974, earned her electronic technical diploma in 1982, became a dental assistant in 1995, and later joined the painters' union while also running her own business. Whatever path she pursued, Maria dedicated herself fully and inspired others with her example.

Maria married her beloved husband, Vincent Bell, and together they raised three sons: Mario (Nikki) Bell, Angelo (Jay) Bell, and Vincent (Kayra) Bell. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Cruz, Cairo, and Zuri Bell, who affectionately called her "Lela." Maria's love for her grandchildren, as well as her many nieces and nephews, filled her life with joy.

She is also survived by her siblings: Maira Pagan, Alberto (Maribel) Pagan, Maritza (John) Torres, Marisol Pagan, Ramon Pagan, Margarita Pagan, Ruben (Cheryl) Pagan, and Marianne Pagan.

She was preceded in death by her cherished mother, Cruz Pagan "Mama"; and her brothers Pedro, Carlos, and Alex.

Maria will be remembered as adventurous, hardworking, and an excellent cook who brought people together through her meals, music, and laughter. Her greatest love was for her family, and her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she touched.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2), Mentor.
