LONG POND - Maria D. Prados, 89, passed away on February 3, 2025, at Whitestone Corners in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren and the staff of White- stone who had become like family.
Born in Brazil on May 22, 1935, Maria built a life filled with dedication and love. She worked for many years at Mount Airy Lodge and later at the Stroud Mall Food Court, where she formed lasting connections with those around her.
Maria's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children: Lina Mara Prados-Franks and her husband Jeffrey Franks of Mt. Pocono; Luis Carlos Mendes of Brazil; Eugenia Brewing- ton of Lancaster; Lea Da Silva of Mt. Pocono; and Eider Prados of Long Pond. She was also a cherished grandmother to Patricia King, Phillip Campos, Aline Stroessner, Julian Prados Franks, Janell McPeak, Taylor Mandile, Brandon Prados, Zachary Brewington, Christopher Brewington, Andrea Lahav, Nicole Mendes, and Luis Mendes II.
Beyond her work and family, Maria found happiness in sewing and ballroom dancing with her grandchildren. A proud American citizen, she was naturalized later in life and took immense pride in casting her first vote in the 2024 election.
In loving memory of Maria De Almeida Prados! Her strength, love, and sacrifice are woven into the very fabric of our lives. Her love transcends generations and distance, binding us together across time and lands. As she carried all of us in her heart, we now carry her in ours forever.
