Maria Socorro Ramos

Maria Socorro Ramos, 85 of Plainview, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, in Lubbock. Visitation for Mrs. Ramos will be held at Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Holy Rosary being recited at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Our of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Plainview. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home in Plainview.

Socorro was born on December 21, 1940, in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Rey Reyes and Maria de Jesus Arteaga. She married Willie Ramos on October 12, 1963, in Abernathy, Texas. He passed away on April 8, 2009.

Socorro, affectionally known as the "tamale lady," was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainview and served in the Charismatic Renewal movement and as a Guadalupana. She loved to garden, take care of her plants, and to gamble, especially at Winstar.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Danny Ramos of Plainview; two daughters, Sylvia Barrera of Plainview and Susie Ramos of Lubbock; her brother, Santos and Nancy Arteaga of Dallas; three sisters, Alicia and Antonio Perez of Plainview, Estella and Rudy Escobar of Las Vegas, and Juana Solis of Louisiana; fifteen grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded by in death by her husband, Willie Ramos; parents, Rey and Maria Arteaga; grandsons, Willie Ramos, Jr., and Timothy Nunez; great-grandson, Josiah Ramos; brother, Salvador Arteaga; four sisters, Leonor Arteaga, Nicholasa Ramos, Betty Ferrer and Felipa Davila; and son-in-law, Armando Barrera.
