It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Maria Reyes, born on April 1, 1966, in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She left us too soon on October 18, 2025, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy of joy, resilience, and a smile that could light up the night sky. Maria was a loyal friend, a loving mother, and a beacon of generosity; her laughter was as contagious as her spirit was indomitable.
Maria spent her life serving others through her work as a cook in a nursing home. Her passion for her work was only rivaled by her love for singing and dancing, hobbies that she pursued with an unmatched enthusiasm. One could hardly be in Maria's presence without feeling an irresistible urge to join her in song or dance. She was a true testament to the words of Maya Angelou, "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Maria made everyone feel seen, loved, and cherished.
Maria is survived by her loving daughter, Melanie Reyes, and her loyal companion, Pedro Vega. She is preceded in death by her dear parents.
Maria's family and friends will gather to remember her at the Puerta Del Cielo® Funeral Home, located at 730 State Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, 01109, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
In celebrating Maria's life, we remember her not with sadness, but with the joy and laughter she brought into every room. She was a woman of extraordinary spirit - funny, kind, and with a heart as vast as the ocean. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, the strength of the human spirit, and the beauty of living each day to its fullest.
