Maria Rosa Zungri

Maria Rosa Zungri, 89, of Brick Township, formerly of West Long Branch, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026.

She was born in Spilinga, Calabria, Italy. She came to America in 1965 where she resided in Utica, New York. She also lived in Long Branch before moving to West Long Branch in 1967 to 2019.

She was a self-employed seamstress for many years before retiring. She and her husband Antonio opened their first Tailor and seamstress shop in West Long Branch in 1967 out of their own home . They eventually moved into a storefront in 1975 until they both retired in 2004. While she mastered in sewing she loved cooking and entertaining with family and friends in her home. Throughout her lifetime her and husband traveled to their summer home in Calabria Italy called the Villa Maria.

She was predeceased by her parents, Girolamo and Maria Putrule, her sister Domenica. and her brother Joseph.

Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Antonio; son, Gerald Zungri and his wife Laura; daughter, Laura Zungri; son, Frank Zungri and his wife Carol; brother, Frank Putrele; sister, Annunziata Putrele and 8 grandchildren, Anthony, Thomas, and Michael Zungri, Nicholas and Gregory Zungri, and Graziella, Edward A. and Sofia Micklovic.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway, West Long Branch. Funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Thursday at Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch.
