Edith Farrell Ryan

Edith Farrell Ryan, 70, of Oceanport, passed away peacefully and loved on Friday, January 23, 2026. Originally, from Shrewsbury, she graduated from Monmouth College now University in West Long Branch. Edie, as she was better known as, was a devoted wife, sister, mother and grandmother. Edie showed her love and care for her friends and family with knitting needles in her hands and a thoughtful gift waiting at just the right time. She poured love into every scarf, sweater, and blanket she made, stitching warmth and patience into each one. Edie spent a lifetime working at her family's business; Thomas Farrell Contracting in Shrewsbury.

Edie, a life member of the Oceanport Volunteer First Aid & Rescue Squad supported her husband of 45 years and son of 37 years in their service with the Volunteer Fire Department and First Aid Squad as well. Edie could always be relied on for a shoulder to cry on or to give advice as she could come with up a solution to a problem from a different angle that most were not thinking.

Edie is predeceased by her parents, Thomas Farrell, Sr & Elizabeth Farrell, her brother, Thomas Farrell II and her grandchild, Marcus Williams. She is survived by her husband, Edward W. Ryan; sister, Irene Farrell; children, Debra Williams, Michael Ryan and Jonathan Ryan; grandchildren, Walter Williams, Sabrina Ryan and Michael Ryan; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Williams; nephews, Thomas Farrell III, Dennis Farrell, Robert Huston and Mathew Huston; niece, Kerry Huston and great-niece, Nicole Ortiz.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 from 5-8 pm and a service on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 10 am at the Fiore Funeral Home, 882 Broadway in West Long Branch followed by burial at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport.
