Mariah Morris, was born on June 27, 1942 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She was the oldest of 13 children born to Sarah Anderson and the late Manuel L. Anderson.
In 1960 Mariah graduated from High School Bronx, New York in 1960. She met and married James Morris in 1965. From this union they had 4 beautiful children, Sandra, Lakisha, Aretha and Jeffery.
Mariah worked as a Clerk II Typist for the State of New Jersey at Marlboro Psychiatric Hospital, Marlboro, NJ and later at Woodbridge Developmental Center, Woodbridge, NJ for over 30 years, retiring in 2002. After retiring Mariah worked in retail (Stern's & Sears).
She is predeceased by one brother, Hardy "Sonny" Salters and one grandson, Ah'Keem Spear.
She was called from labor to reward on February 13th at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
Mariah leaves to cherish her memories, three loving daughters: Sandra Cunningham of Toms River,NJ Lakisha Morris (Toraine) of Neptune City, NJ and Aretha Morris (Matthew Pinkney) of Asbury Park, NJ; one loving son; Jeffery Morris of Asbury Park; grandsons, Ah'Minn R. Spear (Tameka) of Ocean Twp. NJ, Dy'Son Evans (Rituja) of Kearny, NJ and Khiry McKnight of Neptune City, NJ; great grandsons; Ah'Shon & Ah'Seir Spear and great granddaughter; Hazel McKnight & Zara Evans. seven brothers; Samuel (Lornell) Cunningham, of Asbury Park, NJ, Emanuel (Volencia) Anderson of Irvington, NJ, Kenneth (Catherine) Anderson, Thomas Anderson, George (Andrea) Anderson, Alvin Anderson, Stephen (Carol) Anderson of Spartanburg, South Carolina; two sisters Rosa Linda (Roger) Meminger of Brooklyn, NY, Stephanie A. McDowell, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and of course "Baby" (fur baby).
Mariah was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered with much love and sorely missed by all who loved her.
