Donald Morris, 90 year old retired United States Navy veteran, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2025 at his home in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Woodward Methodist Church with Reverend Daniel Rickman officiating. Private family burial will take place at the Elmwood Cemetery with the United States Navy providing military graveside rites. Visitation will be held at the Billings Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Donald Lee Morris was born on July 4, 1935 in Kaw, Missouri to Harold D. and Anna (Miklauc) Morris. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended school there. Donald was inducted into the United States Navy in the mid 1950's and served his country until his retirement in 1981. He retired at the rank of HMC and received numerous citations during his time of service including, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, the Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation for his actions, the Navy "E" Ribbon, four Good Conduct Awards, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He was united in marriage in the early 1970's to Carol McGowan. They made their first home in San Diego, California because Donald was stationed there. They later moved to Woodward and he has lived here since that time.
Donald was a member of the Woodward Methodist Church and volunteered at the Alliance Health of Woodward Hospital and the Integris Woodward Hospital for over 20 years. He loved bowling, volunteering, and his family.
He is survived by his two daughters: Julia and Laura; stepson Cory; many grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 44 years Carol, one son Steven and one daughter Stephanie and stepdaughter Brenda.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Integris Woodward Hospital Auxiliary with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
