Marian L. Egger, Sandy Lake Twp., Stoneboro, Pa, passed away on Monday, (2-9-26) at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 85.
She was born July 16, 1940 in the former Mercer Cottage Hospital to Clarence A. and Sara I. Boyd Fisher.
Marion grew up in a time that working was a way of life. As a young girl, she worked with her father at the C. A. Fisher Mining Company where she learned to drive and operate equipment, skills that would last a lifetime. She could back up a horse trailer better than anyone, doing it with ease on the first try. In the sixties she enjoyed riding her blue and white Yamaha 302 motorcycle with Jud, or one of the kids, on the back. To this day she kept “motorcycle” on her driver’s license.
She was a 1960 graduate of Lakeview High School. And was a graduate of the Sharon Beauty Academy and was a licensed beautician.
She married the love of her life, Jud Egger on May 26, 1962. They lived and worked together daily for well over 63 wonderful years. Her and Jud worked together as a team and every day was spent with each other, 24/7. They were inseparable, they were always together. They started Jud’s Beauty Shop of Sandy Lake, which they owned and operated for over sixty years, now owned and operated by their granddaughter Ashley Mathieson. Over the years Jud and Marian were a large part of the community and served many people through the beauty shop, which they had rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1991.
Marian loved animals and for many years, along with her family, was active in the horse show circuit. She was a member of the Inter County Horses Association and a member of the Penn-Ohio Morgan Association. Morgan Horses were her main interest. She was well known in the horse showing community and loved going to horse shows.
Marian loved to get on the tractor and mow grass and always had a little dog by her side, having many special ones over the years.
She was a strong businesswoman and hard worker. She maintained the shop and could fix anything that came down the road. She had many skills that helped her through life and had a special knack for her bartering skills.
Most of all, Marian loved her family and especially loved her grandchildren.
Marian is survived by husband Jud, at home, also surviving are two daughters: Michele (Matt) Shealy and Monica Ferlin and a son; Marc (Gustavo) Egger; seven grandchildren: Josh Ferlin, Melissa Hipps, Ashley Mathieson, Andrew Lengauer, Amanda Ferlin, Allison Dora and Alyssa Young and ten great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents and two sisters: Kathryn “Kay” Becker and Frances Weaver.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Three Rivers Hospice for their expert care.
