Marian Kressler In Our Care
Marian (Metz) Kressler of Palmer Township, PA
Marian Elizabeth Kressler passed away on Thursday May 2nd, 2024, at the age of 90. She was born in Stewartsville, NJ on January 20, 1934, to the late Theodore and Alice (Todd) Metz. Marian attended Phillipsburg public schools and graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1952. She immediately began working in the Sales Service Department of J. T. Baker Chemical Co.
She was married to Daniel R. Thatcher in June of 1955. He passed away in 1963. In November of 1968, she married George R. Kressler. They immediately took up residence in Palmer Township, PA. After 17 years of employment, she retired from Baker Chemical in May of 1969. In August of that same year, she gave birth to their son, George Jr. Later in life she also worked at Lafayette College, Northampton Community College and Weichert Realtors.
In the mid-1960's she belonged to bowling leagues at Bar Don and Warren Lanes. Marian loved animals, especially horses, cats and dogs, at most times having at least one cat and two large dogs in their residence. She also thoroughly enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, painting, traveling, reading and crossword puzzles.
In May of 2010, her husband George Sr. passed away. Marian was of the Lutheran faith. She is survived by her son, George Jr., his fiancé Ana and their son, Russell. She is also survived by her sister, June Zimmerman of Bath, PA, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Her brother, Roy Metz passed away in 2018.
Arrangements are being handled by Judd-Beville Funeral Home in Allentown. There will be no calling hours. After her cremation, and at the convenience of the family, Marian's ashes will be interned at Northampton Memorial Shrine in Palmer Township, next to her late husband George Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island Park Road, Easton, PA 18042.
