Marian Lewis

Frances Marian Cartee Lewis was born in Chattanooga, TN January 20, 1936, to Elbert Lee Cartee and Edith Turner Cartee. She attended East Lake Elementary School and East Lake Junior High and was a graduate of the Chattanooga High School class of 1953 where she was a member of the National Honor Society and the choir.
Marian retired from TVA after 30 years of service and has continued to cherish the friendships she established while employed there. Following retirement, she enjoyed singing with the Scenic City Chorale for twelve years. She also enjoyed being a member of the Jessie Green WMU at Burning Bush Baptist Church.
She was of the Baptist faith and displayed her Christian faith throughout her life in her many deeds of kindness, generosity and caring. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Howard Lewis; her parents; and by several beloved cousins.
She is survived by her sister, Lynne Cartee Shaw, and many cherished cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 3, 2025, from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm and her service will be at 2:00 in the chapel. Interment to follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park. Dr. Paul Gilbert will be officiating.
