Marian Murphy Obituary
A loving mother, grandmother and cherished friend, Marian was a dedicated nurse caring for countless patients throughout her career including 34 years at Zeeland Hospital. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her professional life, as she selflessly volunteered for the Red Cross, leaving a lasting impact on those in need.
Marian was a longtime member of 2nd Reformed Church. Her leadership within the Girl Scouts nurtured the potential of young minds. In her leisure time, Marian found joy in cultivating her garden, getting lost in the pages of a good book, and dreaming of far-off lands through her love for travel.
Marian is survived by her son, Greg Murphy; granddaughter Caitlan Murphy; and brother-in-law, Merrill Schmieding; as well as many extended family and cherished friends. Marian was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia R. Murphy in 2011; and her sister, Ruth Schmieding in 2023.
Memorial services are 11:00 am on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at Second Reformed Church, 225 East Central Ave. Zeeland, MI 49464 with Rev. Eric Barnes officiating. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends at 10:00 am prior to the service on Thursday. Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Marian's honor may be given to Hospice of Holland or to Patricia R. Murphy Scholarship fund. The Murphy family is being served by Yntema Funeral Home. To leave condolences online, please visit www.yntemafh.com.

We are so very sad to have just heard about the passing of Aunt Marian. I first met her when she help to throw a bridal shower for her nephew, Rick, and I , 32 years ago (She was married to Rick's dad's brother at one time). There were many times she and Aunt Char would come to visit or we would meet them for lunch. She was sweet, funny and I loved her sense of joy!

I will always remember those special times when visiting Aunt Marian´s house. I was so impressed that she had her own career. She made the best no bake cookies- which I still remember to this day! I will never forget her!
