Marian Marie Richardson

Richardson, Marian Marie (Helms) (Thorburn), 81, went to join her Lord and loved ones on Monday, December 23, 2013. Marian had battled cancer for several years. The last years she stayed with her son Gene and his wife Jody. In her declining years, she was provided excellent care by loving and caring Hospice nurses and aides. She is the next to youngest of 9 siblings who have all preceded her in joining their Lord. She is the mother of six children. Marian was born as a set of twins January 22, 1932 to Pearl Lee and Margaret (Dixon) Helms in Lamar, MO. In 1950 she married Winfred Elmer Thorburn and they moved to Wichita in 1954. Later in life she married William Richardson. Marian is preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Margaret (Dixon) Helms; brothers, Carl, Floyd, and Floyd's twin Lloyd Helms; sisters, Orpha Jungman, Letha Doyle, Margie Slinker, Helen Taylor, and Marian's twin, Marian Louise; son, James Thorburn. She is survived by son, Winfred (Gene) and Jody Thorburn; Robert Thorburn of Augusta; daughters, Ruth and Herb Ellis of Sanger, TX, Lois and Mike Goodwin of Holton, KS, and Janet Fortier of Wichita. She was loved by and loving of 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation, 6-8 pm, Thursday, Dec. 26, and Funeral Services, 1:30 pm, Friday, Dec. 27, both at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway.
