Marian C Samodral

Marian C. Samodral, a spirited soul known for her interesting tales and strong faith, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 91 in Hinsdale, IL. Born on January 24, 1934, in Powers, MI, Marian's life was a rich tapestry of experiences rooted in the farmlands of Upper Michigan, where her love for animals and storytelling took flight.

Marian was the beloved wife of the late Walter Samodral and the late John Morran. She was a loving mother to Linda (the late Mark) Wrobel, Rodney (Kelly) Samodral, and Therese (Tom) Stahl. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Peter Stahl, Tyler Samodral, Marelyn Wrobel, Walt Wrobel, and John Wrobel, as well as her step-grandchildren, Nicole Knipe and Heather Meaney. She was a dear sister to her late siblings, Audrey Wright (Raymond Cedeau and Russell Wright), Melvin Savoie, Harriett (Richard) Wagner, Vernon (Lillian) Savoie, Beverly Seefeldt (John Kadow and Herb Seefeldt), and Floyd (Mary) Savoie. Marian will also be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Powers Spaulding High School, Marian embarked on a career that spanned two decades at Prospect Federal and TCF Bank, where she worked as a teller and a manager.

Marian was a feisty woman with an arsenal of stories, she often reminisced about her childhood on the 80-acre family farm, her fondness for the pigs, and the simple joys of farm life, such as feeding mice to the cats. She was a woman of faith, reading Moody pamphlets daily, and her devotion to God was unwavering. Marian's love for dance and music was infectious; she would eagerly rush home from school to listen to the Suppertime Frolics.

As a Bluebird Campfire leader, Marian guided many young lives. Though she never learned to swim, she delighted in accompanying her husband Walter on his boat, embracing life's adventures. Her hands were skilled at crafting, and her stories of bean picking were legendary. Marian's cat, Doozy, held a special place in her heart, reflecting her lifelong love of animals, which included her adored Granddog, Rex.

In honor of Marian, a memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home. A service will immediately follow at 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
