MARIANN T. WREN (nee O'Connor), age 92, Beloved wife of the late Donald B. Wren. Cherished mother of Natalie L. Anton, Wayne B. Anton, Richard B. Wren (Diane) and Steven W. Wren (Lynn). Loving grandmother of Jaime Wren, Jennifer Wren Beck, Andrew Wren, Jacob Wren, and Gracianna Anton. Great grandmother of Palmer, Graeme, Maren, Alan, Sammy, Arlo, Ruby and Ludmila. Cherished cousin and friend.
Mariann was born in Flushing, New York in 1933. She attended 2 years at Queens College, then married Hermann Anton in 1956. They travelled all over the country the first few years, then settled in Bowie, Maryland. She finished her degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Bowie State College in 1973. Hermann and Mariann separated in 1978. She married Donald B. Wren in 1983, and they had 29 wonderful years together before his passing. They met and married in Annapolis, then relocated to New Bern, NC after just a few years, where they stayed until 2006. They lived in a retirement community near Lancaster, PA for the remainder of their time together. After Donald's passing, Mariann moved to Rocky River, OH in 2017 to be near her daughter and granddaughter.
Mariann had many wonderful amazingly long lasting friendships throughout her life, many going back to grade school. She stayed in touch with most of her first and second cousins (and their kids), as well as friends she has known since her college days, plus friends she acquired from her Bowie, New Bern, Willow Valley, and Rocky River years.
In her youth, she was known for her exceptional singing voice, her quick wit and intelligence, and participation in competitive rifle. She learned to give polio vaccines and otherwise helped out in "Uncle Nat's" medical practice while still in school. In her Maryland years she was very active in local Maryland (PG county) politics, and later worked at various Maryland race tracks. In New Bern, she volunteered at the Red Cross pharmacy at Cherry Point for several years. All who knew her remember her wit, intelligence, charm and beauty.
Mariann passed away October 12, 2025.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke's Church (corner of Clifton Blvd. and Bunts Road) in Lakewood, OH on Monday, December 1st at 10:00am. All are welcome, none are obligated.
