Marianne Diaco Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by D'Anjolell Memorial Home of Broomall on Dec. 4, 2023.
Marianne J. Diaco died on December 2, 2023, after a long and full life complete with heartfelt memories. She loved her family and friends and was very loved in return.
Marianne was born on November 13,1925 and lived in South Philadelphia and the Main Line. She graduated first in her class at South Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1942. She was the Valedictorian of her class and proudly gave her speech in both English and Italian. Instead of pursuing her dream of attending college, she took a job as a bookkeeper to help with the family finances. She was able to utilize her many leadership and creative talents through her work with the Main Line Sons of Italy Women's Lodge and through the many social events that she organized. Marianne was a musician and was the only female to lead an all-male band at the Quartermaster during World War II.
Marianne married the love of her life, Frank J. Diaco, and spent the next 52 years with him until he died in 1999. Marianne and Frank had very different personalities; Frank was settled and reserved, and Marianne was outgoing and always up to something "crazy". While courting Marianne, Frank would sit in his Army uniform at the bottom of Marianne's parents' home holding a box of chocolates just hoping to get a glance of his beautiful Marianne. He won her heart, and they went on to have two children, Joseph, and Concetta (Connie).
Marianne was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Pellicciotte, her husband, Frank J. Diaco, and her son, Joseph D. Diaco. She is survived by her daughter, Connie DiMedio, her son-in-law, George Ohrin, her daughter-in-law, Jannell Diaco, her sister, Pauline DiMarco, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Marianne was a kind and loving woman of great faith. She had the gift of making everyone feel like family. Marianne made certain that the family's home was always open to welcoming and entertaining family and friends. She loved her "205" shore house and cherished being with her entire family each summer. She constantly made it a point to check in on people and was always a source of positivity. Even in these last few challenging months, her daily mantra was, "Thank you Lord for another day. I will do my best in every way, and everything will be okay."
Relatives and Friends are invited to her Visitation, Thursday, December 7th 10:30 AM – 11:15 AM followed by her Funeral Mass 11:30 AM ALL IN CHURCH St. Denis Church 2401 St Denis Ln, Havertown, PA 19083. Interment St. Denis Cemetery.
Donations may be made to St. Lucy's School for Children with Visual Impairments – www.saintlucyschool.org
May her memory be a blessing.

I have so many happy memories of Marianne. She was a dear cousin as well as a best friend of my mother. Our family had so much fun and lots of laughter with her and her family whether it was at home, at her shore house, or during the time she and my mother ran the Bala Hotel in Wildwood. I still remember the night the roller derby checked in and skated wildly through the hotel hallways. Marianne´s parties and her incredible hospitality were legendary. She truly enjoyed making her family and friends feel welcome. We were lucky to be a part of her family. She was an extraordinary woman who I was blessed to know. She had a beautiful soul and I will always cherish how very special she made me feel.
