Maridell W. Bagnal

Maridell Bagnal, 80, of Jacksonville died on Sunday, February 19, 2023. She was born in Crisp County, Georgia on February 10, 1943, to Robert Oswald Walters and Ela Prevatt Walters. She passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at Community Hospice.
A longtime resident of the area, she had an award-winning 33-year teaching career with most of her years at Duncan Fletcher Middle School. Early in her career she taught social studies and then in 1995 her school principal asked her about teaching ESOL, English for Speakers of Other Languages. This was a new subject area for her and she took on the challenge by taking additional training and earning the necessary certifications to be able to teach the students in the ESOL program.
Maridell was very active in her church, Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing piano, was an avid supporter of the Jacksonville Symphony and a yoga devotee.
She is survived by Son Derek Castello, Daughter Anne Carol Burke & Son-in-law John Burke.
A service to celebrate Maridell's life will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 25th, in the Chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville Beach, FL.
