Marie Casarella Obituary

Marie Casarella, 86, of Danbury and Westerly, RI, wife of the late Thomas V. Casarella, died peacefully at Regional Hospice on Thursday, November 27th. She was born in Yonkers, NY on December 10, 1938, daughter of the late Ferdinand and Dorothy (Downenheimier) Hovorka. Marie attended Commerce Highschool and continued on to graduate from secretarial school after. The main portion of her career was spent as a traffic controller at Hologic, Inc. in Danbury, CT.
Marie was well known for her cooking and hospitality. She never let anyone leave empty handed or hungry. She loved the beach and ocean views especially from Watch Hill. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and always looked forward to watching or listening to a game.
Marie also known as Mitzi was the wife to her beloved late husband Thomas married almost 60 years. They have now been joined together again. Marie will be sadly missed by her four children, Thomas V. Jr. and his wife, Anastasia, Victor, Joseph and his wife, Stacie, and Suzanne and her husband, Reggie Moore; five grandchildren, Vasilisa, Anastasia, Megan, Brittany, and Dakota; and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive family and friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street in Danbury, CT on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 4th at 10:30 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 85 Great Plain Rd, Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Regional Hospice and Homecare or to St. Gregory the Great Church.
