Marie D. "Lola" Cuevas

Marie Dolores "Lola" Cuevas (Age 79) of Chicago born October 5, 1945, passed away surrounded by family on September 21, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents Martin and Felicitas Cuevas, younger sister Aurora Cuevas, and younger brother Martin Cuevas.
Marie was raised in Chicago in what is now the circle campus neighborhood before the family moved to Lincoln Park. Marie graduated from Harrison High School.
Marie left Chicago to follow her dream to become a writer in Los Angeles. She was an avid movie lover with Steve McQueen as her favorite actor.
While in Los Angeles, she worked as a paralegal. In her free time, she would volunteer at the La Brea Tar Pits.
She returned home to Chicago, but her love for Los Angeles spread to her nieces and nephews. She volunteered at the Chicago Art Institute and was a member at the Field Museum.
Marie was everyone's aunt. Whether it was going to Native American Pow Wows or helping with a school project, she was always there for support. She was a crafter, partaking in several craft fairs. Our Christmas trees will always have her handmade ornaments hanging from the branches.
She will be missed by her sisters Virginia (the late Kurt) Knight and Graciela (the late Robert) Gora, sister-in-law Cathy (the late Martin) Cuevas, nieces Laura (Scott), Michelle (Derek), Diana, Rachel (Nick), Sarah; nephews, Robert, and Alex; great nieces and nephews Maya, Lukie, Matthew, Nathan, and Audrey.
Her presence will be missed by all who knew her, including her West Coast friends.

Funeral, Saturday, October 4, 2025, 9:00AM Prayers and Procession to begin from the funeral home to Saint Ferdinand Church, 3101 N. Mason Avenue, Chicago, Illinois for 9:30AM Mass.
