Marie Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Berkley Chapel on Mar. 6, 2026.
Those who knew Marie Davis will remember her for her warmth, generosity, and steadfast faith. Her life was a reflection of love-for her family, her friends, and most importantly, for Jehovah God. Marie's gentle spirit and selfless nature left a permanent mark on everyone she met.

Born on November 1, 1945, in the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia, Marie's journey of faith began at a young age. At just six years old, she moved to Guyana, where she was lovingly raised by her great aunt, Esther Richmond-affectionately called Auntie. Auntie, a devoted servant of Jehovah and a special pioneer, nurtured Marie's spiritual growth and taught her the true meaning of loving your neighbor. Baptized at 15, Marie soon joined Auntie in special pioneering in the remote jungles of Guyana, experiences that shaped her into the compassionate, devoted woman she became.

Later, Marie built a life in Rochester, NY, where she married and raised her children. She worked diligently as a factory worker at Eastman Kodak, always demonstrating a strong work ethic and kindness to those around her. After retiring, she returned to her first love-the full-time ministry-and became a regular pioneer once again, eventually relocating to Chesapeake, VA, where she continued sharing her faith with joy and zeal.

Marie's life was filled with love and service. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jean Jackson and Albertina Charles; her husband, James Davis; her sister, Lillian Auguste; her stepson, Collis Burdett; and her grandson, Isaiah Dukes. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and kindness cherished by her children-David Spence, Patricia Spence, Belinda Mallory, and Vanessa Dukes-along with her stepchildren, Jeffrey Davis (Tracey) and Patricia Scott; her siblings, Mabel Turpin, Leo Auguste, Cryselda Auguste, Veronica Joe, and Eric Paul; her grandchildren, Brequana Spence, Amaiya Mallory, Aijonna Dukes, Justin Mallory, Christian McCrea, and Nasir Perkins; and many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her loving spiritual family.

Her unwavering faith and selfless love will be remembered by all who knew her. We look forward to making new memories with Marie in Paradise.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4650 Shoulders Hill Rd., Suffolk, VA 23435.
