Marie (Sammartano) Ellis of Sudbury, formerly of Natick where she was born and lived until 2016, died on December 28, 2024, at the age of 87.
She was the beloved wife of 49 years to the late James Ellis. Daughter of Salvatore and Josephine (Angeleri) Sammartano. Sister to the late Frances (Sammartano) Precopio, the late Rose (Sammartano) Bates and the late Vito Sammartano. The devoted mother of Ann Arvidson and her husband Dean, James Ellis Jr. and his late wife Melinda and Ronald Ellis and his wife Laura. The proud grandmother of Emily Godlew and her husband Alek, Nicole, Jeffrey and Kevin Ellis. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She graduated in 1955 from Natick High School. Marie and her husband, Jim were active members of the Natick Elks and catered many enjoyable events at the Elks. They also enjoyed traveling with the Elks and spending time on the Maine shoreline.
She was a longtime bookkeeper at Jones Drug in Natick. She was well known in downtown Natick as she made her trips to the bank and post office.
A Funeral Service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St., NATICK COMMON, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Natick. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting Hours in the funeral home on Monday, January 6, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
