Obituary of Marie Grega
Marie Grega
1933 – 2024
Mary Elizabeth (Marie) Koletar Grega passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2024 in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the age of 91. She was born on October 11, 1933 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, raised in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania and lived in Gibsonia, Pennsylvania until 2017.
Marie was predeceased by her parents, John L. and Mary Elizabeth (Chokey) Koletar; brother, John L. Koletar, Jr.; and sister, Geraline (Koletar) Micklo.
Marie had many interests throughout the different phases of her life. She enjoyed gardening (both vegetables and flowers), card games, bowling, canning, baking and cooking, sewing and knitting, jigsaw puzzles, soduku, collecting angels, and she was a voracious reader. She embraced her Hungarian heritage through music, food, and visiting Hungary in 1995.
She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Sharon Ward (Michael) of Burke, Virginia; son, William J. Grega, Jr. (Jennifer) of Hudson, Ohio, and daughter, Rosanne Broad (Douglas) of Minneapolis Minnesota. Marie has five grandchildren: Brandon Ward of Alexandria, Virginia; Heather Ward (Sean Sowers) of Springfield, Virginia; Michael Broad of Minneapolis, Minnesota; William John "Trey" Grega III and Gianna Grega of Hudson, Ohio. She is also survived by a great grandson, Rory Sowers of Springfield, Virginia.
A Commitment Service and Celebration of Life will be held at a future date (spring 2025) at Jefferson Memorial Cemetery, 401 Curry Hollow Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. Since there will be no immediate service, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Olivet Home or Mount Olivet Careview Home.
