Hildred Lee Dungan (Hansen)
Edina, MN. - Hildred Lee (Hansen) Dungan, 87, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. Hildred was born on June 10,1938 in Fowler, Colorado to Jacob and Elizabeth Hansen. Hildred went to Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington, where she met her husband, Alvin Dungan. They were married on June 12, 1958. Throughout their 67 years of marriage they lived in Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, Texas, Pennsylvania and Minnesota as Alvin served as a Lutheran Minister and Hildred worked in the financial services industry. From 1984 to 2001 Hildred was the General Agent for Lutheran Brotherhood (Thrivent) in Allentown, PA. While in Allentown, she completed her Bachelors Degree at Muhlenberg College.
Upon Hildred's retirement, she and Al returned to Minnesota to be closer to family. During her retirement years, Hildred was a dedicated volunteer and team captain for the American Red Cross. She assisted many families after home fires and also was deployed at the sites of many national disasters throughout her years of service. Hildred's first national deployment was during Hurricane Katrina where she and another volunteer drove an Emergency Response Vehicle from Minnesota to Louisiana while the hurricane was still active. Hildred had a passion for helping people in a time of need. She was also an active volunteer at their church, Transfiguration Lutheran.
Hildred is survived by her husband, Alvin Dungan, daughter Kristine Haagenson (Steve), son Eric Dungan (Tracy), daughter Kari Odegaard (Andy), son Nathan Dungan (Susan Hawks), eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2025 at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Ave S., Bloomington, MN. A time for visiting with family will be from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., with the service held at 11:00 a.m. There will be a light lunch following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Red Cross (Twin Cities), Community Emergency Services (CES), Transfiguration Lutheran Church. See Cremation Society of Minnesota.
