It is with heartfelt love and gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Annie Marie Rhea Johnston Bonnette, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on September 15, 1941, in Houston, Texas, and had been a resident of Como, Texas, for the past 20 years.

A proud graduate of Smiley High School, Marie built a long and successful career in finance and tax services. She owned and operated her own business for many years, dedicating herself to helping others navigate life's financial challenges. She often said she wanted to "save as many people from the IRS as she could," and her clients knew her as both knowledgeable and kindhearted. Marie also loved volunteering at nursing homes, delivering care packages, and offering kindness to anyone in need.

Marie was a devoted member of Black Oak Baptist Church, where her faith guided every part of her life. She was a true believer in Jesus Christ and found strength and peace in her relationship with Him. Her gentle spirit, compassion, and devotion to others reflected her unwavering faith.

She also had a special love for butterflies-symbols of beauty, renewal, and grace-much like the way she lived her life.

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Lawson Bonnette; sons, Michael (Jean) Harman and Jeffery (Verlene) Harman; sisters, Margaret Smith, Charolette McAnally, and Connie and husband J.R. Young; and brother, Jessie Rhea; sister in law, Peggy Rhea. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Marshall Harman, Chelsea Harman, Laela LaCour, Paxton Moore, Jay Moore, David Moore, and Loretta Paxton, along with sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Georgia Hays Rhea; brothers, Larry Rhea and Donnie Rhea; grandchildren, Rachel Harman and Christopher Harman; brothers-in-law, Ron Smith and Kenny McAnally; and her first husband, David Johnston.

Marie will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her faith, and her boundless love for her family. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and she will be forever loved and missed.
