During the early hours of June 14th Marie slipped peacefully into eternal sleep. She was accompanied by her son Philip and daughter-in-law Emily.
Marie was born in Sicily to her parents Vincenzo and Giuseppina. At the age of five her family moved to the United States. First arriving in New York and eventually settling in Massachusetts. The majority of her childhood and teenage years were spent in Dorchester and Medford.
In her early years she enjoyed traveling across the country, spending some time in the west coast. These travels would be the source of many happy memories and stories that would be shared for the rest of her life.
In her twenties she would meet, date, and marry the love of her life, Walter. Their nuptials would take place in 1975. The birth of their first and only child together Philip, would happen in 1978.
In 1982 Marie and her family would move to Everett, Massachusetts and live there for the next twenty years. Often opening up their home for parties and family gatherings. Most notably an annual Father's Day BBQ.
In 2003 Marie and Walter would move to, and buy, their first home in Linton, Indiana. The years spent in Indiana were the fondest for Marie. It's where she would really enjoy life to the fullest.
As Walter's health deteriorated, they would opt to move back to New England to be closer to family. Settling in Greenville, New Hampshire. The next few years would bring both happiness and times of distress. They would make many friends and spend time with family often. But Walter's health was declining rapidly. After his passing in 2015, Marie pulled herself away from others. Mostly socializing with people in her immediate surroundings.
The next ten years would see Marie's health start to steadily decline as well. Eventually seeing her lose a leg and moving into The Rochester Manor, an assisted living facility in Rochester, New Hampshire. Although she would only live there for mere months, her smile and friendly attitude helped her make friends of fellow residents and faculty members in quick time.
Marie will forever be remembered for her smile, her loyalty, and her unabashed sense of love and kindness to her loved ones. Her faith and commitment towards her religious beliefs never wavered. Just as her love and loyalty towards Walter and Philip never did.
She had a fondness for animals that lasted her entire life. And an unnerving love for her 'stories.' Even in her final days she made sure that she didn't miss General Hospital.
At the time of her passing she left behind many who loved her. Including her son Philip King and his wife Emily. Their two sons Anthony Forziati and Conroy Drummond. All of Berwick, ME. Her sister Celestina Walsh of Everett,MA, as well as her brother Philip Messina and his wife Donna of Medford, MA. She also leaves numerous other family members including brothers and sisters-in-laws and nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as many godchildren.
She looks to be reunited with her parents Vincenzo and Giuseppina Messina, as well as, her husband Walter Elwood King III.
Marie's family would like to mention that the teams from both The Rochester Manor and Cornerstone VNA Hospice were an amazing group of providers and professionals. Their commitment and support proved to be invaluable.
