Marie Josephine Knox, age 99, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in Cody, Wyoming.

Born June 15, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marie lived a life full of faith, family, and adventure. She met her beloved husband, Emmett Knox, on a blind date, and the two were married on August 6, 1949. Together they adopted six children and built a home rooted in love and strong values.

Marie and Emmett spent their early years in Bloomington and Prior Lake, Minnesota, before making Cody their forever home in 1977. They were not only life partners but also business partners, working side-by-side in various ventures over the years. They embraced the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains and cherished their winters in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, where they spent 36 wonderful years enjoying the sun, sea, and friendships.

The couple's shared love of travel took them across the globe-from Europe and the wonders of China and the UK, to scenic road trips throughout the United States.

A devoted member of the Cody community, Marie gave her time and heart to causes close to her faith and values. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Cody Long Term Care Center, St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and several prayer groups. Her deep spirituality led her to become a Third Order Carmelite, a commitment she held close to her heart.

Marie also enjoyed playing bridge and cherished the friendships and fun it brought her through the years.

Above all, Marie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was her pride and joy, and she left behind a legacy of love and faith. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Marie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emmett; daughter, Vicki; daughter-in-law, Nancy; and sisters, Margaret Thompson and Jean Buethe. She is survived by her children: Joe Knox of Cody,Jim Knox of Cody, Molly (Brad) Berg of Spokane, WA, Julie Knox of Cody,Mary (Bryan) Leach of Minot, ND ; Grandchildren: Gwen (Joey) Stanley of Augusta, GA,Maggie (John) Schaffer of Cody,Elisha (Rusty) Reno of Cody,Barbara Gibbs of Cody,Joe (Jamie) Knox of Miltona, MN, Ryan (Melissa) Berg of Spokane, WA, Sarah (Wes) Carnahan of Missoula, MT, Stephanie Berg of Spokane, WA, Richard (Jen) Bilharz of Watford City, ND; Great-grandchildren: Dominic Stanley of Augusta, GA, Aiden and Easton Schaffer of Cody, Riley and Cooper Reno of Cody, Grace Gibbs of Cody, Nora and Avery Knox of Miltona, MN, Jameson Bilharz of Watford City, ND and Brody and Olivia Berg of Spokane, WA.
