Marie Lennex Obituary Gertrude Marie Shafer Lennex went to her heavenly reward on 10/6/2024. Marie was 88 years. Marie was born to Rhea White Shafer and Wayne Shafer on 6/9/1936 in Indiana. Marie has 3 siblings, Charles Shafer (deceased), Kaye Stevens (deceased) and Kenneth Shafer (deceased.). Marie married Dick Lennex on 2/17/1954 in New Salem, IN. Dick passed on 03/24/2022. They have 4 children Katrina of Marion, IN, Brian (deceased 5/23/2019), Richard and Significant Other Thelma of Valparaiso, IN and Krista of North Carolina. Dick and Marie have 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Marie's goal from a young age was to be a wife and mother. Marie loved her children very much. Dick and Marie have lived numerous places due to Dick's career and have many friends all over the United States. Once Dick and Marie retired they enjoyed many journeys and adventures in their RV. They particularly enjoyed Gulf Shores, Alabama where they would winter with members of their camping club. Marie was an amazing cook and baker. She seemed to remember everyone's favorite food and prepare it for that person when they would come to visit. Marie enjoyed watching her favorite programs regardless of the number of times she had seen them. The funeral will be 1 PM Saturday October 12, 2024 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. Burial will be at Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Friends may Call at the funeral home at 11 AM. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Marie's name to Southern Care Hospice Services, 2312 S Dixon, Suite 200, Kokomo, IN 46902.
