Marie Martha Proske

Marie Proske, 105, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Lufkin, TX. Born to Ernest and Martha Fritsche on February 23, 1919 in Giddings, TX, Marie will be forever remembered as a kind and loving soul who loved everyone.
She is survived by her son, J.C. Proske and his wife, Faye; daughters, Linda Shumaker and Janise Allen; her grandchildren, Belinda, Debra, Karen, Becky, Gina, Jinny, Denise, Danell, Jo Ann and John Paul; 38 great grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren.
Ms. Proske is preceded in death by her husband, Otto Proske; her Brother, Robert Edward Proske; her daughter, Carolyn Cook; and sons-in-law, Donnie Shumaker, Dan Allen and Donald Cook.
Ms. Proske was a long term Lutheran who dearly loved the Lord and said the Lord's Prayer daily. In addition she adored flowers along with baking and sewing. Marie was an avid Astros fan for many years and enjoyed their success in the past 10 years. But her real passion was fishing in the lake or river. Family said she would stand on the bank fishing all day long. Marie Martha Proske, 105, will be greatly remembered and fondly missed.
A Noon visitation is planned for Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 12:00PM in the chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home. The funeral service begins afterward at 1:00PM followed by the interment at the Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
