On August 30, 2024, Marie Adele Scala passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was 93 years old.
Her friends knew her as Adele. She was a lifelong New Yorker, born in New York City and then resided in Katonah for over 60 years.
Adele was a devoted wife to her husband, John. She was an always-loving mother to her sons. She enjoyed playing tennis and skiing with them. She was a loving and generously involved grandmother to her grandchildren.
Adele was a passionate and accomplished home baker and cook, impressing everyone with her artistry and sense of good food. She enjoyed gardening, fashion, traveling, hosting family, and fine dining in Manhattan. She held brief careers with the NY Telephone Company and with Abigail Kirsch Catering. She donated her time to the Katonah Museum of Art.
Above all, Adele was an extraordinarily kind, patient and caring woman. She made everyone feel special in their own way and was endeared to all because of that.
Adele was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, John Scala, and her brother, Jack Ferrarotti.
She is survived by her sons, John, Peter and Steven, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Adele Thursday, September 5, 4:00-7:00 pm, at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woodsbridge Rd, Katonah, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 6, 11:00 am, at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, 55 Valley Rd, Katonah, NY.
Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY
