Marie A. Schneider, 73, passed away January 30, 2025, in Manchester TN. She was born May 31, 1951, in Hays KS to Bernard and M. Alma Weber. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School and graduated from Hayden Catholic High School in Topeka, KS. She enrolled in the Stormont Vail School of Nursing and took great pride in her RN degree. After a long career with Creighton University in Omaha NE, she retired in 2017.
Marie and her oldest brother, Paul, were very close and helped tremendously in raising their seven younger siblings. Sadly, Paul died tragically in 1976.
Marie and Grady Schneider were married in Omaha in 1987; they later divorced. Their daughter, Emily, was born in 1990 and Marie took great pride in watching Emily follow in her footsteps in the nursing field.
Marie was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church. Before moving to Tennessee to be closer to Emily, she was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Omaha. She attended daily Mass, committed to a weekly prayer hour and volunteered to assist with cleaning the Church on a weekly basis. Marie was known to say the Rosary on a regular basis and family members found rosary beads throughout her home when they were helping her move.
After graduating nursing school, Marie purchased a red corvette and loved driving it around town. She was an excellent Scrabble player and enjoyed playing with her family when visiting them in Topeka. Especially fun was Emily and some of her nieces pretending to be "Oh Vanna" and distributing the letter tiles to the players when requested.
A Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 2nd, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren Street, Topeka KS 66603 with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Topeka.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Emily and her partner, Crystal Corley; siblings, Anne Keefe (Wally), Mary Koch, Christy Large (Rocky), Don Weber (Karen), Dave Weber (Sarah), Ben Weber (Coleen), Therese Hinchliff (Ray); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Paul.
Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church 2110 S 32nd Ave., Omaha NE 68105-3110 or to the charity of one's choice, sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
