Woodrow "Woody" Konrade

Woodrow P. Konrade, 94, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

Woody was born May 3, 1931, in Topeka, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Burghart Konrade. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and Capitol Catholic High School. Woody served in the United States Army as a cook from 1954 to 1956 and was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. On June 26, 1965, Wood and Veronica "Bonnie" L. Reilly were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. They enjoyed 58 years together until her passing in 2024. Woody then worked at McEntire Brothers Mattress Company, Kansas Sand and Concrete, and Shawnee County. He retired from the Shawnee County Public Works Department in 1996 with 29 years of service.

Woody was a member of Sacred Heart – St. Joseph Parish his entire life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2608 and volunteered at Let's Help for many years after he retired. Proud of his German heritage, Woody considered wuensching on New Year's Day and attending the Konrade Reunion the two most important traditions of the year. Woody loved fishing, boating, hunting, polka music, dancing, babies, working hard, chewing gum, and taking Polaroid pictures. He loved his faith and his family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his children, Tom (Cathy) Konrade and Tony (Kristy) Konrade; grandchildren, Jacob (Nicole) Konrade, M. Charlie (Rachel Seuell) Konrade, Grant Konrade, Jack Konrade, and Jude Konrade; and great-grandchildren, Otto Konrade, Lilah Konrade, and Ella Konrade. Woody was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, brothers, Jake, Ray, John, and Will, and sisters, Saraphine, Catherine, Mary, Mildred, and Delores.

Visitation will be 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where the Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren, Topeka KS 66603. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, and sent in care of the funeral home.
