Veronica "Bonnie" L. Reilly Konrade, 89, Topeka, Kansas, passed away on March 15, 2024. Bonnie was born May 25, 1934, in Emmett, Kansas, the daughter of Michael L. and Victoria M. Hrenchir Reilly. After graduating from Emmett High School, Bonnie moved to Topeka and worked for Kansas Power and Light. On June 26, 1965, Bonnie and Woodrow P. Konrade were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Topeka. She then became a dedicated homemaker and mother to Tom and Tony, baking countless chocolate cakes for birthdays and meals over the years. She also worked part-time in the Hayden Catholic High School cafeteria during her boys' high school years.
Bonnie, proud of her Irish heritage and always up for a good time, enjoyed participating in the St. Patrick's Day parade with the Reilly clan for many years. An admirably tough, determined woman, she learned to use a computer at age 82. Facebook kept her connected to the world as her mobility declined, and she was able to view Masses online during the pandemic and watch Hayden football games from the comfort of her home. She was proud of and dedicated to her family, once even using a broom in the backyard to defend her ornery children from people they antagonized.
Bonnie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Woody; children, Tom Konrade (Cathy) and Tony Konrade (Kristy); grandchildren, Jacob Konrade (Nicole), Charlie Konrade (Rachel), Grant Konrade, Jack Konrade, and Jude Konrade; and great-grandchildren, Otto Konrade, and Lilah Konrade. Bonnie was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Martin, Harold Francis, Edward, James Kenneth, John, and sisters, Mary Rita Young, Joan Theresa Reilly, and Ramona Arp.
The rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, with visitation until 7 p.m. and a short prayer service starting at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 227 SW Van Buren, Topeka KS 66603. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart-St. Joseph Parish or Hayden Catholic High School, and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online to www.kevinbrennanfamily.com.
