It's with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Marie Sgro (D'Angelo) of West Harrison, NY. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 16, 1938, in New York City daughter of Pauline (Galletta) and Matthew D'Angelo, (predeceased) by her parents and sister Madeline DiSilvio.
Marie married Ralph Sgro-Pops (predeceased) in 1958. They had four children, Ralph Jr. (Kathy), Mary Ann Rosenberg (Gregg-predeceased), Marisa Bratberg (Eric) and Paula Karl (Rob). Marie was survived by her grandkids Matthew, Andrew, Jeffrey, Breanna, Steven, Nicole, Valerie, Ashley, Jessica, Nicholas, Eric and Robbie. She also had 7 great grandchildren, MJ, Sean, Lucy, Charlotte, Ella, Joshua and Lilly.
While she was a stay at home mom for quite a few years she eventually started her career at Gristedes Supermarket as a deli manager before transitioning to owner/operator of Pops Deli in Hawthorne NY with her husband Pop and their family.
She enjoyed playing cards either her family and friends as well as her trips to Atlantic City. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and volunteered for many years at the annual Festa held there.
Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday October 11th from 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. Anthony's church, West Harrison on Saturday, October 12 at 10:00 am. Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
