Toussaint, affectionately known as Marie Carm, was born on July 12, 1967, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and passed away on August 15, 2024, at the age of 57. She was the beloved daughter of Francis Toussaint and Gertrude Charles-Toussaint and the cherished older sister to Jean Ameis Toussaint, Roolmee Toussaint, Heurtelou Toussaint-Charles, and James Toussaint-Charles. As the only girl and the eldest among her siblings, Marie Carm held a special place in the hearts of her family.
Following the loss of her parents, Marie and her brothers were lovingly raised by their grandmother, Brigite Pierre, and their aunt, Marie Lydie Charles-Exime. In 1981, Marie Carm emigrated to the United States, where she embraced new opportunities and built a life centered on service and care for others.
Marie attended Miami Edison Senior High School, graduating in 1985. Pursuing her passion for nursing, she enrolled in Miami Dade College's Nursing program, graduating in 1996. As a registered nurse (RN), Marie Carm made a significant impact in the healthcare field, dedicating her skills and compassion to her work at Kendall Medical Center and North Shore Medical Center. At one point in her career, she also owned and operated a successful home health agency, further extending her care to those in need within her community.
Marie was the proud mother of two daughters, Marsha E. Pierre and Christine R. Chatelain. She also had grandchildren: Ny'Asia Ancrum, Jamel Brenden Mikael Graham, Winter Ancrum, Dylan Deimere Deron Latimer, and Sincere Jream Latimer. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished the time spent with her family, who brought immense love and happiness into her life.
Marie's extended family, including the Pierre, Cazeau, Charles, Toussaint and Gilles families, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and cousins were blessed by her nurturing spirit and endless kindness. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
